A boil water advisory affected the New Orleans International Airport Friday.

The boil water advisory went into effect Thursday night after repeated power outages and surges causing a loss of pressure in the distribution system.

The advisory includes the airport.

Airport officials have closed all water fountains in the terminal.

Airport officials advised airlines and other retail operators to take the necessary steps to ensure safety during food preparation or beverage service.

Those flying are asked not to drink tap water at the terminal until the advisory is lifted.
