How To Increase Gear Inventory Space In Hogwarts Legacy

Oct 18, 2023

To increase gear inventory space in Hogwarts Legacy, players need to complete the trials left by the legendary wizard Merlin all over the open world.

Hogwarts Legacy players can collect lots of gear during their travels, and some players will likely be bumping up against their inventory space limits sooner rather than later. Unfortunately, the game doesn't make it obvious how players can increase their inventory space, but it is possible. To get more space for gear, players need to engage with specific challenges related to the Merlin Trials that can be found scattered throughout the open world.

Before completing these challenges, it's worth noting that players can still sell their unwanted gear to vendors to free up inventory space and earn some extra Galleons. In addition, once players have obtained a certain piece of gear, they can use Hogwarts Legacy's transmog feature to change its appearance to match other items, even if those items have been sold or destroyed. As such, players don't need to worry about juggling stats and fashion sense. However, once players have lots of gear and access to upgrades, having more inventory space becomes incredibly convenient.

To increase gear inventory space in Hogwarts Legacy, players must complete Exploration Challenges related to the Merlin Trials. By completing specific numbers of Merlin Trials, players will receive inventory space upgrades as rewards. For example, inventory space upgrades are rewarded for completing 2, 6, 10, 14, and 18 Merlin Trials, so players must hop on their brooms in Hogwarts Legacy to search the open world.

Merlin Trials are found all over the open world and can only be completed once players have met Merlin researcher Nora Treadwell during the main story. Working together with Nora, players will discover that Merlin left stone circles throughout the open world, which Mallowsweet leaves can activate. There are several different types of Merlin Trials, but each requires players to complete environmental puzzles such as lighting braziers with Incendio or doing some light platforming.

Merlin Trials are typically marked on the world map with feather-shaped icons, making them easy to locate and solve. However, players should keep in mind that certain Merlin Trials require learning specific spells in Hogwarts Legacy. Players will learn most of these during the main story, but certain spells, such as the Knockback Jinx Flipendo, can only be learned during assignments. As such, puzzle-solving Hogwarts Legacy players looking for extra inventory space will have to keep up with their homework.
