New Accessories for High Volume Magnetic Bead Protocols | Lab Manager

Oct 17, 2024

INTEGRA Biosciences has introduced a deep well plate adapter and magnetic array for its MAG module, designed to streamline high-volume magnetic bead workflows in molecular biology and proteomics. This new accessory allows researchers to use INTEGRA’s recently launched deep well plates with the MAG module, significantly enhancing the efficiency of high-throughput protocols.

Magnetic bead-based methods have become the preferred choice in these research areas due to their superior scalability compared to column-based techniques. However, manually executing these protocols can be tedious and prone to errors, particularly when trying to avoid aspirating the magnetic beads. INTEGRA addresses these challenges by pairing the MAG module with its ASSIST PLUS pipetting robot, automating the precise handling and separation of magnetic beads.

The MAG module is versatile, compatible with VIAFLO 96, VIAFLO 384 handheld electronic pipettes, and the MINI 96 portable electronic pipette, facilitating high-throughput magnetic bead applications. Its innovative design includes a moving magnetic array, eliminating the need for manual plate shifting during the binding and release of beads.

The newly launched deep well plate adapter and magnetic array expand the capabilities of the MAG module, allowing researchers to process up to 96 samples with volumes of up to 2.2 ml in deep well plates. This development offers an ideal solution for laboratories seeking to increase throughput and efficiency in magnetic bead workflows, making it an essential tool for lab managers focused on optimizing laboratory operations.
