Dream of the Endless (Tom Sturridge) has many names and titles in The Sandman which reflects how the lord of dreams is viewed by various cultures and peoples. Netflix's The Sandman is the long-awaited adaptation of Neil Gaiman's classic DC Comics graphic novels, and Gaiman is producing the series along with Allan Heinberg (Wonder Woman) and David S. Goyer (Man of Steel). The Sandman season 1 adapts the first two volumes of Gaiman's comics, Preludes and Nocturnes and The Doll's House.

When Netflix's The Sandman begins, Dream is captured by a British mage named Roderick Burgess (Charles Dance). The self-styled Magus actually intended to capture Dream's older sister, Death (Kirby Howell-Baptiste), but he snagged the master of dreams instead. After being held prisoner for over a century, Dream escapes and begins a quest to rebuild his shattered realm, the Dreaming, by reacquiring the tools of his office - his ruby, his helmet, and his bag of dream sand - which were stolen from him. As the Sandman embarks on his journey, enemies old and new conspire against him. Meanwhile, the cold and aloof Dream begins to change as he gains a greater understanding of the humans whose dreams he rules over, thanks to people he encounters like Johanna Constantine (Jenna Coleman).

As one of the Endless, which is a 'family' of anthropomorphic personifications that were created billions of years ago when life entered the universe, Dream is connected to every living being capable of dreaming. Morpheus, which is one of his many monikers, is known by different names and he even appears differently in accordance with how each culture perceives the king of dreams. Having existed for eons, Dream has walked among mortals as well as lorded over their fantasies in his realm, the Dreaming. Therefore, Dream is known by many names and different titles and honorifics have been bestowed upon the Sandman throughout time.

Dream and Dream of the Endless are who the Sandman truly is. Dream is the third of the Endless, after Destiny and Death, and he's older than his other siblings, Destruction, Desire (Mason Alexander Park), Despair (Donna Preston), and Delirium.

Morpheus is the ancient Greek name for the master of dreams and it's a name Dream likes and has adopted. He's often referred to as Lord Morpheus as well.

Prince of Stories is another title for Dream, as the ruler of the Dreaming, where mortals come in their sleep to live out stories and their fantasies.

Master of Dreams and Lord of Dreams are similar titles for the Sandman, denoting his mastery over the dream realm.

Lord of the Dreaming is another way to refer to Dream's dominion over his realm.

Kai'ckul is the name Nada, one of Dream's former lovers, and her tribe, the First People, called Morpheus 10,000 years ago.

Lord Shaper and World Shaper are honorifics referring to how Morpheus' power to shape dreams.

King of the Nightmare Realms refers to the fact that not all dreams are pleasant and Dream also lords over nightmares like The Corinthian (Boyd Holbrook).

Oneiros and Oneiromancer come from the Ancient Greek way to personify dreams, and it's another way to refer to the Sandman. Dream married Calliope, who knew him as Oneiros, and they had a son named Orpheus.

Monarch of the Sleeping Marches is another honorific for Dream,

Master of the Realm of Sleep is a self-evident title for the ruler of the Dreaming.

Shaper of Forms refers to how Dream can control not just a mortal's dreams but how mortals perceive Dream as well.

Lord of the Dreamworld and King of All Night's Dreaming are more respectful titles for Dream of the Endless.
