Set in Gotham's far-flung future, Batman Beyond was the perfect take on the next iteration of Batman, made even better by a set of new and unique villains that gave Terry McGinnis's Dark Knight a hard go of it in his new role. Plagued by the mind-control villain, Spellbinder, the radioactive bad guy, Blight, the shape-shifting Inque, and the sonic-powered Shriek, Terry and his mentor, the elderly Bruce Wayne, had their work cut out for them trying to take these baddies down nightly, with Jaxson showing off their movie villain potential in the best way he knows how.
Captioning each image with a hopeful comment about finally getting that live-action Batman Beyond movie Hollywood keeps circling, Jaxson kicks things off with a look at the mind-bendy villain named Spellbinder. Nailing Spellbinder's spiral design, Jaxson extends this pattern to the rest of the poster in a trippy way that amplifies the mind-control abilities of the character. Deciding to go with an all-black background for the next villain, Jaxson accentuates Blight's green radioactive glow and skeletal frame to chilling effect, perfecting a live-action look in a piece of art that needs no notes. Next, giving fans his take on the liquid evildoer known as Inque, Jaxson shows off Inque's more human-looking properties with a very Venom-esque set of inky tendrils wrapping around her face and body, giving her a scary look that fits her well. Finishing things off with a faithful recreation of the soundwave-using bad guy called Shriek, it's the more detailed bits of armor and his black bodysuit that Jaxson focuses on here, effectively bringing this character and his choice in fashion into the real world without breaking a sweat.
Realistic enough in his art style that fans can get a pretty good idea of what these villains could potentially look like up on the big screen, Jaxson nails the visual details that keep each of his designs in line with their television show counterparts while subtly and artfully tweaking what wouldn't work as well in the transition to live-action. So while a Batman Beyond movie hitting theaters anytime soon is still a nerd pipe dream, getting to see Spellbinder, Blight, Inque, and Shriek turned into character posters by Jaxson Derr (@jaxsonderr) is the best thing fans will get to a proper silver screen debut for these futuristic Batman villains!

Brian is first and foremost a nerd in every way shape and form. He likes to compare himself to a black hole, consuming any and every form of entertainment unlucky enough to get caught in his gravitational pull. It's not uncommon on any given day for him to read a couple comics, settle down with a good book, watch a few movies (inside and out of the theater), catch up on his ever growing but never depleting streaming queue, challenge himself with a few good video games, and of course, write his heart out. He spends every waking moment dreaming up interesting and intriguing concepts and ideas that will hopefully one day inspire and entertain anyone looking for an escape from their daily lives. Graduating from Full Sail University in good old humid Florida, Brian currently lives and works in New York City and lives for the day when all he has to do is wake up and create something unique and new for people to enjoy.
